Meet the Vicar

Vicar Carol Braun came to serve in a part-time leadership position at Our Savior’s on November 1, 2016.

Vicar Carol spends three days a week here at Our Savior’s. Her home is in Hayward Wisconsin, and she commutes from there for her time with us here in Iron River. She has been married to her husband Ed for 37 years. They have two daughters, Jill & Hayley.

Carol is a TEEM student completing her seminary education. For the past three years, she has been taking classes at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary (PLTS) in Berkeley CA and Luther Seminary in St Paul MN.

She finished this education in May, 2017, completed other requirements for the ELCA and Northwest Synod of Wisconsin and entered in the Call process for Ordained Ministry. Before coming to Iron River, she served at First Lutheran in Hayward WI where she will be ordained on August 12. Carol was a member there for 28 years and she continually grew on her path to seminary, experiencing leadership rolls, as well as staff positions at First Lutheran. She completed the Northwest Synod’s Lay School of Ministry course as well as some years of continuing education through Lay School. Her call to ordained ministry came as she was discerning where she was being called in Chaplaincy education (CPE) at St Mary’s in Duluth MN, in the winter of 2014. By October 2014 she was enrolled in the TEEM program and served during her first two years of her education at First Lutheran. She now looks forward to serving as an ordained leader in the ELCA.

An eerie fog surrounded worshippers at the Iron River Cemetery on Easter morning, 2017. Participants celebrated Jesus' resurrection before returning to Our Savior's church for a sumptuous breakfast and a more complete service.

Luther's Rose in Legos

During the week of June 5-11 the congregation pieced hundreds of lego tiles together to form a depiction of Luther's sacred rose. Luther cited Romans 10:10, "For one who believes from the heart will be justified." The congregation surrounds the finished work after the June 11 service.

It's Official!

Carol Braun has accepted the Call to become Our Savior's Pastor. Until her ordination August 12 she will retain the title of Vicar. At that time, Carol Braun will become Pastor Carol Braun.

Our Savior's choir met at the home of Howie and Patti Lehman for a picnic supper June 15. The weather was ideal and the Lehmans rebuilt deck was properly christened.
